Law - equal for all (?)

We all respect Sanjay Dutt as a great actor and as a son of veteran actor Late Sunil Dutt'ji .
I am filled with various thoughts when Justice Markandey Katju asking for mercy on Sanjay Dutt and writing a letter to Governor of Maharastra for his mercy. As, Sanjay Dutt is being sentenced 5 years jail, under serious criminal offenses like possessing three AK-56 rifles and having direct phone call contacts with the key conspirators of Mumbai serial blast 1993, on the grounds of actually knowing what is going to happen in Mumbai that time..etc. Once I was filled with a great respect about Justice Katju, when he asked for justice for two gals on the grounds of "Freedom Of Expression" on facebook. But this time it gives me a feeling that it is somewhere bias towards some political party to gain the favor than to be a Justice.

It is inevitable that Bollywood will come forward asking plea for Sanjay Dutt, as they are co-actor and actresses and some of them are friends and worked together with Sanjay Dutt's parents. But the reason "Sanjay has already suffered for long 20 years and served 18 months in jail" they put forward itself is not viable. As we see most of the cases in India run for such a long duration it doesn't mean that, at the end the convicted should be excused or favored. Law is equal for all. If the decision is altered now, it will simply pass on wrong message to the people that, if you are actor or businessmen or belong to political party then law will be different for you.
Be it Markandey Katju  or Bollywood stars, It seems they have forgotten the wounds of ‘93 Mumbai blasts or either they want to veil it for favor. We agree that there is a ‘mercy factor’ when a criminal is sentenced, but why this case is drawing so much of our attention, as there are many other criminals sentenced and might be for life imprisonment, no one talked about them, Is it only because they are poor? Or not having any political background? Those cases not even came into limelight.
The question will remain unanswered if the decision is altered, “it is Mercy or Favor?”
